fic / An Address

As they’re looking out of a window, a thought has popped up in their mind.
In the emergence of an invisible force that cut them off from the outside world, the progress has been effectively halted, which eventually actually lead to stagnation of relationships, after all, in a stalemate, time is the worst enemy, especially when you don’t know how to give up. Mind breaks down, body is crumbling.

...

While the body doesn’t deteriorate, the mind is still working, pretty much non-stop, and against them. Nerves desperately trying to signal muscles to move, but no feedback comes back. Everything is running through their head, but no scream is coming out of their mouth.

...

Isn’t it finally time?
Time to be let free?
They feel like they’ve
 been
  left
   behind
    in
     the
      dust.

...

For a few occasions throughout the time, they were running free like they were before. As happy as they might be, doing whatever they did best, it never lasts long, it being more akin to fleeting moments wouldn’t be an understatement, they think. Instead of feeling like humans, they feel like they’re toys. Something to be put off after being done playing.

...

Before despair truly sets in, they have a last request. A last wish of sorts, before madness takes over not just the mind, but the body as well. The last, parting words.

Please don’t forget us.
